Dressing
Up For the Holidays
Have you
ever fallen victim to holiday fashion faux pas? Dressed up in glitz and
glamour only to realize it was a casual affair, or vice versa. With a
little help and preparation you can avoid common holiday fashion
mistakes, put your best fashion foot forward, and look your prettiest
ever.
The
first rule - be prepared. Don’t get caught without something to wear.
Nothing can bring your holiday spirits down quicker than getting the
invite, only to turn it down because you fear your wardrobe has nothing
to offer. I am always on the hunt for the perfect shoe or bag, but
before the holiday festivities begin, I do a wardrobe rundown. (This is
good to do anytime of year). Go to your closet and make sure you have
the triple threat, 3 dressy basics: jacket or blazer, skirt, and pants.
With these three items in tow you are guaranteed to be prepared for any
last minute invitations or party plans. Pair the blazer with a nice
shell or cami and finish off your look with the skirt, or for more
casual get-togethers go with the pants and pair with a nice poplin or
rayon top. The best thing about the triple threat is that you can
re-wear these separates and make each one look totally different just by
adding a few accessories.
Speaking
of accessories, the ultimate accessory for this holiday time of year is
the jacket. Add one this season and immediately dress up or dress down
any ensemble. Something like our Logan Swing jacket would add a touch
sophisticated flair and is perfect for any casual gathering. For a more
dressed up look, go with something like our Bartlett Jacket or Tai
Jacket, both will usher your entrance into any room with grace and
style.
Lastly,
if trying to coordinate outfits makes you want to avoid the season
entirely, don’t panic. For those who feel fashion challenged stick with
my mantra- Don’t make it complicated. Instead of trying to match up
dressy separates, try a little black dress like our Heidi. Not only is
it universally flattering, it dresses you for any event in effortless
elegance. Add a necklace or scarf and you’re set!
Whether
you choose dressy separates or a little black dress I wish you all the
joy and happiness that this season brings. Live it up!
Happy
Holidays and Happy Holiday Shopping,
