YouTwitterMyFace.com - doing good, having fun!
A few days ago, Bob Amiral, IT Director at Making it Big, inc. in Cotati, was driving his son to school as he does every morning, and as is the usual experience between himself and his teenage son on this ride from Bodega Bay to Tech High at SSU, instead of a silent ride with a teenager and his ipod, they listened to the KGO Morning Show together as a shared activity that a father can have with his teenage son.
It just so happened that on that particular show, Stan and Jennifer were discussing how Gavin Newsom announced his candidacy for governor via social media such as twitter, myspace, youtube, facebook, etc. vs. the traditional news conference. Stan made a joke about how they should all be combined...like "www.YouTwitterMyFace.com".
So of course MiB's IT Director, immediately checked on the availability of the URL when he arrived at the Making it Big office, and was able to purchase it for only $7.00 and promptly pointed it to the MiB retail site, www.makingitbig.com.
The next morning, Bob Amiral and his son Alex were again listening to KGO where Stan, Ed and Jennifer were lamenting the fact that they had checked the URL and that a clothing company in Cotati had already picked it up and were discussing whether or not they should they give them a plug? No, they wouldn't as Making it Big, inc. had stolen the idea!
Bob Amiral arrived at work and told the Director of Marketing & Ecommerce, Lila Van Meter, this story, so she promptly emailed them to apologize for "stealing" their idea and at the same time, took the opportunity to get the word out about a great event they were holding at their Cotati Making it Big Showroom that Saturday: a "Plus Size Clothing Swap" with the proceeds going to benefit The Living Room in Santa Rosa, a non-profit organization that provides a Day Shelter for homeless and at-risk women and their children.
KGO promptly called Lila Van Meter at Making it Big, inc. and she got on the air with Stan who graciously forgave MiB because they are a company doing good work, allowing them to give their special event, The Living Room, and Making it Big, a much deserved on-the-air plug!
What will the future hold for www.YouTwitterMyFace.com? As far as the long-term plans for www.YouTwitterMyFace.com
we couldn't tell you what Bob Amiral's plans are for the future use for www.YouTwitterMyFace.com.
