"I love the articles. So much information that I didn't know about. Big people are human too…with the same feelings…lets not discriminate…but educate! Thanks for the travel tips." - P.W.
"Thanks to you and Sally for a great article on travel!!!" - K.C.
"Dear Sally, I just read your article about vacationing. Thank you! It is one of the most useful and best articles I have ever read, especially about the hand held shower. Thank you for that. I never even thought of that. Not only am I plus size, I am also just shy of six feet tall! Most hotel showers are a joke. I have been in hotel rooms where I had to bend over at the waist and wash my hair that way! I do look forward to the day when the world as a whole becomes aware that not every woman is 5' 6' tall and weighs 125 pounds. Won't that be nice? - Thanks, Sally" - A.T.
"Brava Sally Smith! Thank you for an excellent article on arranging accommodation that ensure a happy vacation. Many large women try not to draw attention to ourselves; consequently, we'll put up with things that are inconvenient, uncomfortable, and sometimes even unsafe, cheating ourselves in the process. I value the numerous specific suggestions that address our special needs. When we're spending our money, we have every right to have reasonable needs met. I especially appreciate the tip about handheld shower heads, one of the the things I miss most when traveling. It had never occurred to me to bring one along and ask the hotel to install it for me. Thats an excellent idea. Here's to happy travels in the future. Bon voyage!" - L.T.
"I'm a put-on-the-brakes person when it comes to travel…so nice tips and nice words of encouragement…thanks…" - J.S.
"Sally, Thank you so much for your tips. There were some things I never thought about. This is a wonderful article. Are there some vacation spots that do cater to BBW exclusively?" - P.O.
"That was informative and interesting. Thanks!" - L.A.B.
"Wow! That was wonderful. Thanks so much for the valuable information. I have always stayed away from a cruise because I've heard normal size people have a hard time fitting in the showers. I had no idea I had choices in traveling. Thanks again!" - L.C.
" Hi - I just want you to know that we ( my family and I ) have had to limit so much of our vacation locations because I am plus size. Thanks for all the helpful hints, I do want to know if you have any suggestions for places to go that are plus size friendly." - G.T.W.
"Great article, very helpful. Shows the company cares about the women who buy your clothing." - S.H.
"Yes, I like her articles!" - B.J.
"Great article. I already do most of the things you mentioned…..I will admit that traveling as a large woman can put a damper on your fun if you are not prepared to ask for what you need or want…Thank you for all you do." - P.M.A.
Sally's article on vacationing is one of the most detailed, practical, and inclusive guides I've ever read. And I used to search the net for all that information in a panic. I no longer panic; I prepare. For example, I've decided that my pre-flight peace of mind is as important as my in flight comfort, so I use Southwest exclusively. I almost always qualify for a refund for my second seat. Let's face it - everyone feels cramped on a plane. I watch thinner folks walk by my aisle, look at my "extra seat," and sulk away in ENVY. Ha! I'm not bitter. I think your next steps should be increasing the visibility of sally's blogs and perhaps marketing them to interested third parties, like *forwarding this article to travel agencies and resorts along with a note that says something like "women of size spend $____ a year on bathing suits and beachwear at our store - addressing some of these concerns could result in those items being worn at your resort" *offering to have write articles for medical/insurance/health newsletters and publications about size-outreach and size-friendliness - women of size are at risk for so many things and we never go to to the doctor - this could help with that - MIB could form a relationship with the heart or cancer associations. Win. Win. *I think Sally and MIB should pitch the idea to Oprah. That's right I said OPRAH. Something along the lines of "Fat and Happy" - an interview or day in the life segment about plus size and super sized women and their extraordinary, productive, non-suffering, non-victimized lives. It would be like Little People, Big World, only, well, Big World, Bigger People. I kid, but I really think it would fly, and how cool would it be to see folks like us, facing challenges and actually enjoying life...IN OUR FABULOUS NATURAL FIBER CLOTHING. all of this stuff would be great publicity for MIB....just some thoughts inspired by the article...p.s. there is a resort that is designed just for big people - I forget the name, but I bet you can find it on google" - E.F.
"Very nicely written with good tips. Thank you for being positive!" - D.A.E.
