MiB Sizzles with Summer Styles
By Sally E. Smith
Whenever I receive a new
MiB catalog in the mail, my heart beats a little faster. I relish delving into the new styles, colors, and fabrications, and appreciate the familiar touchstones that are the staples of my wardrobe. As I savored every page of
MiB’s Summer 2008 catalog, I was particularly struck by the variety of two design elements that are important to me: necklines and sleeves.
Regular collars and rounded necklines are fine, but I applaud
MiB for spicing up many of their designs and with eye-catching necklines. The notched necklines of the
Blue Embroidered Tunic, the
Ada Top, the
Orla Top, and the
Estrella Top are mischievous, while the horseshoe cutout of the
Ursala Tunic is fun and playful. The
Frida Blouse and the
Heather Tee feature square necklines, which are especially flattering on plus-size women and can easily showcase a beautiful necklace.
Embellishments at the neckline also give blouses a spirited appeal. Whether through embroidery (Carlina Top), appliqué (Ada Top), or ribbon trim (Annie Blouse), embellishments add versatility and a feminine touch.
When it comes to sleeve lengths, I’m not very picky. I wear short sleeves, 3/4-length sleeves, and long sleeves. Yet I’m really partial to the variety of sleeve styles
MiB is offering in its Summer Collection. From the raglan bat sleeves of the
Dove Blouse and the
Athena Blouse to the wrist detailing of the
Lainey Blouse and the
Orla Top, these sleeve elements are a wonderful change of pace.
Needless to say,
MiB’s Summer catalog includes many other wonderful offerings. The flirty
Luna Dress makes me want to plan a vacation to the tropics, while the
Amelia Dress is perfect for a relative’s upcoming wedding. Then there are the must-haves for summer: a great selection of swimsuits, shorts, and crop pants, as well as the whimsical, hand-painted
Vanisha Tunic.
Of course, the other thrilling news delivered in the new
MiB catalog is that there are new, lower prices on longtime favorites. I’m partial to
Easy Pants and
Knit Drape Pants, but there are six additional styles that feature lower prices. Likewise, many tops have dropped in price, including those wonderful jersey tees that I wear every day.
The new Making it Big collection sizzles with wonderful designs, colors, and fabrications, paving the way for all of us to beat the heat in style this summer.
